Musical star Vanessa Hudgens has signed on for the teen romance flick Beastly. The story is based on the novel by Alex Flinn about a vain New York teen who is transformed to look ugly in order to find true love, Variety reports.
The film will be directed by Daniel Barnz, who also wrote the script. Hudgens was also recently cast in the all-girl action flick Sucker Punch, co-written and directed by Zack Snyder of 300 and Watchmen fame.
Set in the 1950s, Sucker Punch is about a young woman who undergoes a lobotomy and is institutionalized by her wicked stepfather. While institutionalized she enters her own fantasy world, where she must steal objects in order to escape. The film also stars Jena Stone, Abbie Cornish and Jamie Chung.
