JENNIFER NETTLES WORRIES ABOUT THROAT PROBLEMS , TWISTED ANKLE
Jennifer Nettles’ injury to her voice isn’t the only damage that Sugarland has suffered this year. Kristian Bush twisted his ankle taking a header during the group’s April show in Atlanta. He tells about the incident, which occurred when he was running to the back of the hall at the Gwinnett Arena, mid-show to give away a signed guitar:
“I was looking for somebody, searching for somebody’s eyes. I tried to find a kid between 12 and 17. … I found one in the back of the arena, and I was running back down the stairs. I made the corner, and then rolled down on my face. I’m surprised it didn’t show up on YouTube. I finished the show, but I was seeing floaters and stars the whole time. After the show the doctor said, ‘You need to not walk.’ They stuck me through all the orthopedics guys for the Falcons. You wouldn’t believe the amount of drugs they can put you on to make your body function, but those drugs keep you from healing. You can’t do that with the voice, either. You can’t shoot yourself up with steroids because you’re healing your muscles. We are trying to treat ourselves as professional athletes now, which means you have to stay in shape, you can’t drink, you can’t smoke, you can’t party.”
Technologically perfect, the concert footage is filled with fast-paced editing and camera work that captures the charismatic and photogenic Nettles working the crowd while Bush seems content to play Oates to her Hall, or Teller to her Penn. Not that his contributions are qualitatively lesser, but it is pretty obvious who is the focal point.
With only five tracks duplicated between the CD and the DVD, Sugarland gives its loyal fans a well-deserved “thank you” and a big plateful of musical food for the masses.

Demi Lovato maintains balancing act of her new Album
Just over a year ago, Demi Lovato said she could still “go to the mall or whatever” and not be mobbed by screaming fans.
But then, a few things happened: Disney Channel flick “Camp Rock,” debut album “Don’t Forget,” touring with the Jonas Brothers.
Poof! A tween star was born.
“It’s a change, and my life is different. But at the same time, it’s really not that big of a difference,” Lovato said.
“I still have the same friends. I’m just a little busier. I’ve been having so much fun.”
The release is the fourth Disney Music Group album to hit the top of the Billboard 200 chart in the past year, behind hits by the Jonas Brothers, Rascal Flatts and Miley Cyrus.
But Lovato's 108,000 first-week sales lag behind those of Michael Jackson's 2003 hits album Number Ones, which sold 154,000 copies last week. The King of Pop's compilation is ineligible for the mainstream countdown.
Meanwhile, Daughtry's Leave This Town and Maxwell's Blacksummersnight both drop spots to two and three, respectively, on the new chart.
Jordin Sparks' new release Battlefield debuts at seven.

Judge names Katherine Jackson permanent custodian of Michael's children
A judge has ruled that Michael Jackson's mother should raise the King of Pop's children, giving legal backing to a deal agreed last week.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff appointed Katherine Jackson as the permanent guardian of the late singer's three children during a court hearing in Los Angeles today.
Mrs Jackson was named by Michael Jackson as his first choice to raise his children in a 2002 will filed with the court.

The 79-year-old is the only person to formally petition for custody of the children since Jackson's death on June 25 at the age of 50.
Mrs. Jackson and her son's ex-wife Deborah Rowe reached a custody agreement last week.
The three children, who range in age from 7 to 12, have been living with Mrs. Jackson at the family's home in the San Fernando Valley since their father's death. The two eldest children signed declarations apparently indicating they wanted to remain with Mrs. Jackson.

Penelope Cruz left embarrassed over fashion faux pas , she is in control
Spanish actress Penelope Cruz was left shame-faced as she walked down a red carpet in a scarlet suit and blamed losing her luggage on a flight to London for the fashion faux pas.
The Volver beauty jetted in to the British capital from Madrid to attend a glamorous event at the city's Somerset House with her Broken Embraces director, Pedro Almodovar and instead of donning a full-length gown for the glitzy bash, Cruz was forced to pull on a red suit she kept in her hand luggage - after the airline she was travelling with misplaced her bags, reports contactmusic.com.
Despite the wardrobe setback, Penelope was delighted to be in the UK but admitted she has difficulty coping with the unpredictable climate.

The 35-year-old screen beauty confessed she had even prayed for the day to stay dry ahead of the film's open air screening.
Speaking at London's Somerset House, Penelope told BANG Showbiz: "I love London... but I have difficulties with the rainy weather.
"I have decided it is not going to rain, I was here for many months this year making a movie and I love London, but I have trouble with grey weather so I said, 'No, please, not today.' So hopefully it's going to stay like this."

Music Review: Jordin Sparks lost her' Battlefield'
Nineteen year-old Jordin Sparks is the "American Idol" winner everyone always forgets. She hasn't been as fantastically successful as Carrie Underwood, nor has she been consigned to the rodeo/state fair circuit, a la Taylor Hicks.

New Music Tuesday: CDs out July 21, 2009, include Jordin Sparks' second album, "Battlefield," a follow-up that shows the American Idol is growing as a woman and an artist. Also out this week: Michael Jackson, "The Collection" (5-disc set); Demi Lovato, "Here We Go Again"; Our Lady Peace, "Burn Burn"; Bill Frisell, "Disfarmer" (Nonesuch); and from Sugar Ray, "Music for Cougars."

" The 12-track set is overloaded with too many songwriters and producers - Ryan Tedder, StarGate and T-Pain help out, among others. Though all that talent is around, there's no real direction. Some tracks sound Celine Dion-esque while others are clearly crafted for Radio Disney.
"Emergency (911)" and "S.O.S. (Let the Music Play)" are meant to be playful and cute, but they aren't. "Don't Let It Go to Your Head," a FeFe Dobson cover, is clearly not as good as the original, and on "No Parade" and "Let It Rain," Sparks' vocals are impressive but overdramatic.
Battlefield suggests Sparks, who won Idol's sixth season, could follow the successful pattern of first-season winner Kelly Clarkson, just with an R&B bent and fewer obvious issues with men. The album's final four songs indicate she's developing as a songwriter as well. The last two in particular -- Faith and The Cure -- offer a cool-down period after all the beat-heavy grooves. They also sound a little like American Idol coronation songs -- just much better. Maybe Idol should consider turning to Sparks for the crowning moment of Season 9.

A Web cam interview, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel

Zooey Deschanel: Summer is pretty straightforward about her wants and needs and where she is; and then Tom has his own thing, so your feeling with it is sort of more of just an unfortunate event than anything.Joseph Gordon-Levitt: I know how it feels when you finally got to be with the girl that you've had a crush on for so long and it feels like. It just looks like someone may be smiling to themselves, walking down the street, but what it feels like . . .Deschanel: . . . is a dance number.
Gordon-Levitt: My favorite kinds of comedies are the ones where it's not necessarily from a punch line or from gags.Deschanel: Yeah, yeah, agreed. Yeah, my favorite movies are definitely more along the Woody Allen-Cameron Crowe lines than the gross-out comedies. And I had been sort of like waiting with bated breath for something like this to come along, and even better it was with Joe. It's like a dream come true.
Deschanel: He was so great at working with actors and is such a lovely genuine person that he just seemed like an actor's director. As soon as I was on set, I forgot about everything else.Gordon-Levitt: He was also really good at describing what [the film] was gonna be, and that's always a sign of a good director.Deschanel: And everyday Marc would play music--and we'd dance on our break. Everyday in the hair and makeup trailer, we'd have a dance party, after lunch, and whenever possible, basically.
Gordon-Levitt: That's an interesting wording of it because--a friend of mine says, "It's the easiest thing in the world to say what you're not. It's the hardest thing to say what you are." I think (500) Days of Summer doesn't so much avoid cliches as it kind of walks right up to them and has a conversation with them, and sort of follows some of them and deviates from other ones.Deschanel: If your goal is to not be something, that's too amorphous-- I think the main goal of working on a movie is you wanna actually be telling a story.

Janet Jackson says no to jermaine dupri
According to Us Weekly ,After almost seven years of relation, Janet Jackson and music producer Jermaine Dupri have reportedly called it quits,. “They have been moving in different directions for a while,” the source said. Dupri, who was noticeably absent from Michael Jackson’s memorial on July 7, produced several of Jackson’s recent tracks on her last two albums — which could have contributed to the split, according to the mag.
“You shouldn’t mix business with pleasure,” a friend of the former couple told the mag. “Janet felt their lives were too crossed and they should have kept things separate.”
“She’s devastated,” another insider said. “She’s busy caring for Michael’s kids. Janet’s the family’s backbone.”
Jackson was previously married to Rene Elizondo. They divorced in 2000.

Breaking:Jennifer Garner striken deal with ABC
ABC was the network that ran Alias for its five-season run.
Jennifer Garner has signed a first-look deal with TV network ABC for her Vandalia Films production company.
That means ABC gets the pick of any TV series Garner and her partner Juliana Janes come up with. On the movie front, a similar deal was made earlier with Warner Bros, Variety reports.
The trade paper said Vandalia would aim to produce women-driven shows like Grey's Anatomy, and work with writers Garner had encountered during her time on Alias and Felicity.

Emma Watson's New Look'chipmunk' face

Emma Watson prefers to watch her earlier performances in ‘Harry Potter’ movies because she doesn’t recognise herself.
Emma Watson used to look like a "chipmunk".
The Harry Potter actress - who has been playing Hermione Granger since she was 10 - prefers watching the first instalments in the franchise because she looks so different.
Emma Watson said: "Really, I find it easier to watch the earlier films, which might surprise you, because I had the whole bushy hair, chipmunk face, big cheek thing going on, which wasn't a great look for me.
"Actually, I find that easier to watch because I can completely disconnect myself. It felt like such a long time ago. I really don't identify myself with that girl.
"However, the ones from one or two years ago - I find them much, much harder to watch."
The 19-year-old beauty said: "I'm going to university, but it doesn't mean that I'm giving up acting or anything dramatic. I feel like I do want to continue, definitely.
"I just want a normal experience for just a bit. Just a little bit of normality for a while. That would be nice."
